carplate type basic info : thoughts and ideas : presentation half way :
Make a new typeface for carplates. What happens to the form of the type if it should be readable from 300 meters distance, and the Q remains a Q and doesn't turn into a O. Which other problems do you meet? And what are the solutions? Functionality!
what to do
Do a research on existing carplates, compare them. Define the essential parts of a good carplate type.
Make a monospaced carplate font, numbers and capitals.
Present it in different ways and different situations, how will it be used?
Make 2 spreads for the Pts. magazine.
