Thin and tiny type The workshop consist of two different themes, explored by two groups. 01 The thinnest typeface on the world Make the thinnest typeface which was ever made. See how thin you can go, will it still be readable, or worse: visible? Which minimum size do you need for that? What are the special features of very thin typefaces, try to take advantage of that. Everybody starts to sketch individually, but very soon the whole group has to develop one font as a group. Working together is essentially. In the end the typeface will be digitalized and, very important, applied! 02 The 'smallest' typeface in the world Make a typeface for extremely small sizes. Explore how small you can go. 6 pts.? Maybe 4 pts.? Maybe even much smaller. Maybe you can draw your name on a grain of rice? What are the consequences for the form of a letter? What about the contrast? Which parts are essential? Try to squeeze this out. Everybody starts to sketch indivually, but very soon the whole group has to develop one font as a group. Working together is essentially. In the end the typeface will be digitalized and, very important, applied!
