| | Anna Wilson - Wilderness
This industrial neighborhood seemed like a good place to give people an opportunity to contemplate nature. The natural world can be forgotten in the city, the landscape is tamed and used for our own purposes. I want people to consider the relationship between nature and humanity in a non confrontational way and to remind people of the wildness and beauty of the "natural world". The typography evolved out of the need to weave the material according to the pattern of the fence as well as the wind which consistently blows in the same direction. This project is made from an chain link fence at 16th St. and 8th St. in San Francisco, with grass cut from the surrounding area as well as flowers rescued from the trash cans of the S.F. Flower Market. | |
